Women of Winter #4 on February 3, 2010 was an “Early Up” – granting the group the privilege to head up the mountain almost an hour before anyone else. The WOW group gathered at the funitel bright and early and was joined by Ski Patroller Lel. On the funitel ride up the mountain, Lel gave us some insight into the life of the patroller during early morning hours.

Once out of the funitel, we were off on our adventure, laying first tracks on several runs before anyone else was even thinking about making a turn and even stumbling upon patrol still checking out the out-of-the-way runs we planned to ski. With low to no vis, jumps, cornices, and variable snow, we all learned the value of “soft legs” and that visibility was overrated (NOT!).

Another successful WOW was completed. The most exciting part is that the list of women ripping around the mountain together grows with each WOW session!! After this morning’s session, everyone earned a glass or two of wine at Uncorked!
