I bought these for backcountry touring as a friend had a pair last year.
Was hard to find any similar poles so I opted for these rather expensive ones.
These poles have clearly been well thought out with a few extra tricks in the bag than is mentioned here.
For example there is a tiny little hook under the lip of the grip to facilitate in adjusting heel lift etc.
The two lower sections of the poles screw together to form a spare probe. The same screw is the same size as found on a tripod, so yep you can also use as a monopod for your camera.
However I cannot comment on their durability or actual use as I havent used them yet. Another fella doesn't rate them too high, so I will have to wait and see if they fall apart. hopefully not as I like them.

I wish I did not have to say this about k2, a company I have had many great skis from, but the poles were completely useless. I am now on to my second set. Hugely overpriced for a backcountry pole that doesnt meet the demands of backcountry use. First both sets I have owned broke. I used theses poles in and out of the resort but mainly in the backcountry skinning roughly 70-80 days a season. I had my poles from last year warrantied this summer and now on the first ski day of the season they broke as I was touring up hill (small flex and they broke above the basket). The new baskets were cool and I still really like the mini little angle finder, but the grips are 2 soft when you need to use them to adjust angle height on tech bindings and flipping the heel lift on duke bindings. The comfort insulation just below the grip is a complete waste of plastic because it does not insulate and feels just as thin as holding the metal of the pole. Avoid the plastic and save your customers money and let them tape their own insulation below the grip, or have a more durable, substantial feeling grip like black diamonds touring poles. All in all k2 is a great company with good products but their backcountry series are not on the top of my "buy list" for backcountry gear.
