Glass Web
Enveloping the Mod structure in a secondary glass weave for additional torsional rigidity provides a more forgiving and versatile version of the Carbon Web. -
Progressive Sidecut
Progressive sidecut is a combination of two different radii, or sidecuts, that enhance the versatility of wider-waist skis. Standard sidecut theory is based on using a single radius. This works well on narrower skis, but becomes overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions. The use of progressive sidecut on wider-waist skis guarantees improved turn initiation and hard-snow performance. -
Mod Technology
High-Performance Suspension System Mod functions by absorbing vibrations and impact loads along the entire ski, providing stronger edge-hold and a higher degree of power and control. Mod is a secondary core that flexes and moves on top of the primary core, allowing the overall ski flex to be unaffected. -
Mod Monic
A Focused Mass-DampenerThe Monic is a solid zinc mass that works in conjunction with the Mod structure to focus mass-dampening at a targeted location.

Comments about K2 Skis Photon:
After lots of research, I chose this ski to replace my 20 yr old K2's. This ski does great on the grommed surfaces of the Michigan Ski hills I frequent. On fresh snow, they performed great. However, I did have some controllablity issues at higher speeds. Also, on my last outing, which could have been my last outing of the season, the slopes were sloppy. The ski's performed great at cutting in some really bad/sloppy conditions. However at higher speeds/sloppy conditions I did feel like I was on the edge of out of control. Overall, I love my new K2 Photons.

Comments about K2 Skis Photon:
Great ski for anyone trying to kick their skiing up a notch. Skis work great from morning ice through afternoon crud. I've never turned easier. They have added about three more hours to my ski days due to less fatigue. Great grip even on steeps.

Comments about K2 Skis Photon:
Didn't ski for 8 years before last year, then went 4 times on rented skis. Felt fairly comfortable at that point on blue runs. Bought these and used them yesterday in VERY sketchy east coast conditions. We have ice, packed powder, and crud right now in Western NC. These skis performed well beyond my expectations. The pros: did everything I wanted a ski to do! After two green runs, stayed on blues the rest of the day wanting to tackle blacks (but no snow to do so). The upper blue run was steep with tons of ice, then crud/packed powder and ice on the lower. I felt like I had been skiing for several years and my confidence on these skiis is almost scary! Cons: they don't seem to like turning at low speeds, but are very stable and more responsive at moderate/high speed. The faster I went, the better the skiis felt. These skis are not for someone who plows down the slopes, but more for the advancing beginner to intermediate who is comfortable at moderate speed and carves. They do drag a bit in slush, but turn well on hard pack, light powder, and ice was absolutely not at issue. LOVE THEM!!

Comments about K2 Skis Photon:
GREAT SKI... Ive been looking for a quick turning ski in the bumps and finally found it. great carving in the Vermont hard pack too,and very stable at moderate speed for those end of trail run offs. Been skiing for 40 years and weigh 170 lbs. They make me feel 35 again.

Comments about K2 Skis Photon:
43 years old and havent been on ski's regular since I was mid 20's. After renting similar skis in Colorado earlier this year I came across the Photons and was excited to give them a go. First 4 days in Tahoe and I came across 4 very different conditions, from sunny and groomed/packed powder to slushy to icy to excellent deep powder. The Photons handled all but the slush like a champ. Very easy to turn in all conditions and great edge the whole week. The only weakness I found was having to get back a bit on the ski in deep deep powder and a bit of drag in the slushy stuff. Not really the Ski's fault there though. I am very excited about the Photons!

Comments about K2 Skis Photon:
I mainly ski the groomers. When the groomers turn to crud, ice, light powder Photons rise to the occasion and push me beyond my limits! Very happy and feel they have advanced my skiing this season! Glad I made the purchase and they were priced very reasonable for having rocker and great design!
