All-Terrain Profile

Progressive Sidecut

Progressive Sidecut
Progressive sidecut is a combination of two different radii, or sidecuts, that enhance the versatility of wider-waist skis. Standard sidecut theory is based on using a single radius. This works well on narrower skis, but becomes overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions. The use of progressive sidecut on wider-waist skis guarantees improved turn initiation and hard-snow performance.

Tip and Tail Holes

Tip and Tail Holes
Holes in the tip and tail are not only the attachments points for K2 skins, but they also fit the functional needs of a backcountry skier including the ability to build a rescue sled or construct various ski anchors. The holes are equipped with removable plugs.

Bioflex Cores

Bioflex Cores
All K2 women’s skis use a combination of fir and spruce in a unique core known as BioFlex, a process where a dense fir core underfoot is fused with lightweight spruce at the tip and tail to reduce swing-weight. For 2012, we have developed three variations of the Bioflex core specifically tuned to a target performance:Bioflex 1 – 60% fir and 40% Spruce – Swing weight reduction with added forgivenessBioflex 2 – 70% fir and 30% Spruce – Reduced swing weight with added performanceBioflex 3 – 80% fir and 20% Spruce – Increased performance, strength, and durability

      Comments about K2 Skis BrightSide:

This is my everyday go-to ski. At 90 mm underfoot, it's a versatile ski that goes anywhere on the mountain and easily and seamlessly travels from groomers to nongroomers (powder, crud, and bumps). Even when it's a little firm, it works! It's light but powerful - if you want to carve a turn, it does it with little effort. It's nimble for the off groomers to slip and slide through all conditions. If you have a one-ski quiver, this is the ski!

              Comments about K2 Skis BrightSide:

This ski totally rocks! Just got back from a trip out west and I demo-ed what seemed like EVERYTHING: Atomic Elysian, Blizzard Samba, Blizzard Black Pearl, Volkl Aura, Head Maya 9, and Elan Soul. I first tried the Brightsides at the end of the day when my legs were already tired, and had a hard time making them do what I wanted, but when convinced to take them back out the next morning, I realized that they knocked everything out of the park. Rock steady at high speeds, able to turn fast through moguls and trees, light enough to hike with easily, and powers through crud. Cannot wait to take them out again, I had so much fun!

              Comments about K2 Skis BrightSide:

I'm at Mammoth Mountain, California. It's 8:30 and skys are dark but the Britesides are carving on groomers. With each run, a little more snow starts to fall. By 9:30, there's 2 inches on the runs and the Britesides are still carving turns. By 11:30, there's 8 inches on the runs and you can't feel the groomers anymore. Snow is cut up but the Britesides are plowing through the snow and the carving is still going on but on soft snow. By 12:30, there's 12 inches on the groomers. Visibility is low. The Britesides are floating through the powder. While bouncing in shorter turns, I can feel the soft cushions of the little powder pillows. When the powder section is cut up more, I can lay them over as if I were carving on a groomer and the Britesides take over, digging through the snow and arcing a turn as big as I want. I can go slow. I can go fast. I can make big sweeping turns. I can make short zippy turns. I can feel the power under my feet and know the Britesides and I are in control and we've conquered the mountain. I can trust that the Britesides have the power to get me there even when I can't see. What a perfect first powder day for the season!! This ski really does handle all conditions well.(2012-2013)

This is a great everyday, everywhere ski. As a ski instructor, I need a ski that can perform different tasks and demos, at different speeds, on all types of terrain...and this is it! This is a very easy ski to recommend to people because it's easy to initiate, holds great on all types of snow (hard pack to fluff), it's lightweight for the ladies, and makes skiing so easy and enjoyable....what else is there?!
