All Terrain Rocker

Similar to her brother the SideStash, the SideKick’s 108mm waist and drawn-back All-Terrain Rocker create an ideal mix of agility and flotation for effortless turns through untracked sidecountry trees. But its solid sidewall construction provides the power and stability necessary to straight-line past the hubby as you lay claim to first tracks under the chair.

Technology

Powder-Specific Tip Design

Powder-Specific Tip Design
The widest point of a powder tip is 7cm back from the standard contact point. The design adds stability and predictability while skiing and is less likely to hook or grab in light crusts or variable conditions.

Tip and Tail Holes

Tip and Tail Holes
Holes in the tip and tail are not only the attachments points for K2 skins, but they also fit the functional needs of a backcountry skier including the ability to build a rescue sled or construct various ski anchors. The holes are equipped with removable plugs.

Progressive Sidecut

Progressive Sidecut
Progressive sidecut is a combination of two different radii, or sidecuts, that enhance the versatility of wider-waist skis. Standard sidecut theory is based on using a single radius. This works well on narrower skis, but becomes overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions. The use of progressive sidecut on wider-waist skis guarantees improved turn initiation and hard-snow performance.

Bioflex Cores

Bioflex Cores
All K2 women’s skis use a combination of fir and spruce in a unique core known as BioFlex, a process where a dense fir core underfoot is fused with lightweight spruce at the tip and tail to reduce swing-weight. For 2012, we have developed three variations of the Bioflex core specifically tuned to a target performance:Bioflex 1 – 60% fir and 40% Spruce – Swing weight reduction with added forgivenessBioflex 2 – 70% fir and 30% Spruce – Reduced swing weight with added performanceBioflex 3 – 80% fir and 20% Spruce – Increased performance, strength, and durability

Truly Versatile

By Shannon

from Vail, CO

Comments about K2 Skis SideKick:

I purchased these skis to both tour and teach on. They are bigger underfoot than what I was previously touring on (big plus!), but smaller underfoot than what I've been teaching on (another bonus!). Coming off of skis with a higher rocker profile, I love the significant edge profile the SideKicks have. Totally changed how aggressive I can be on ice! They are now my go-to ski for hard-pack days, groomers, or icy front-side conditions, but have the rocker and width to perform in powder as well. I put a Salomon Guardian binding on them, which is working well for the uphill too. I am happy!
