In the 80’s K2 racing skis were well known and recreational offering extensive, but the industry had yet to successfully bridged the gap between racing and recreation. That was until the release of the 5500 in the 80’s, the first high performance recreational piste ski, a ski that created the All Mountain category for K2. The Impact 5500 is a nod to this revolutionary ski that brought high end performance to a recreational customer.

Technology

Carbon Web

Carbon Web
Carbon Web pushes the balance between weight and strength gaining downhill performance without adding additional mass. Located in the tail and the forebody of the skim the Carbon Web increases edge grip when you need it most in the backcountry.

Progressive Sidecut

Progressive Sidecut
Progressive sidecut is a combination of two different radii, or sidecuts, that enhance the versatility of wider-waist skis. Standard sidecut theory is based on using a single radius. This works well on narrower skis, but becomes overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions. The use of progressive sidecut on wider-waist skis guarantees improved turn initiation and hard-snow performance.

RoX Technology

RoX Technology
Core: Strength and Structure
A K2 ski is designed with a primary core and structural layers that determines the flex.

MOD: Suspension
A secondary core that essentially acts as a suspension system quieting the ride of the ski but does not affect the overall flex of the ski.

Carbon Web: Increased Edge Hold
A raised X-Shaped carbon support is laid on top of the MOD furthest from the core to increase the torsional rigidity for greater edge hold and grip.

Speed Rocker: Effortless Initiation and Accuracy
Without Rocker, a ski with this much torsional rigidity strength would be nearly impossible to initiate into a turn.

Mod Monic

Mod Monic
A Focused Mass-DampenerThe Monic is a solid zinc mass that works in conjunction with the Mod structure to focus mass-dampening at a targeted location.

Mod Technology

Mod Technology
High-Performance Suspension System Mod functions by absorbing vibrations and impact loads along the entire ski, providing stronger edge-hold and a higher degree of power and control. Mod is a secondary core that flexes and moves on top of the primary core, allowing the overall ski flex to be unaffected.

All Terrain Rocker

All Terrain Rocker
ROCKER: Easy initiation, versatility, agility
CAMBER: Control, edge hold, rebound

All-Terrain Rocker features an elevated tip for variable and soft snow performance, as well as camber underfoot for power, energy, and edge-hold in firmer conditions.

Simply put, All-Terrain Rocker offers versatility and ease in all snow conditions.
