All-Terrain Profile

Wood Core

Wood Core
K2 uses a variety of wood cores for energy, rebound, and a liveliness only found in wood core skis. Our wood cores consist of a blend of different species of wood based on the desired flex and target performance of the ski.

Cap Construction

Cap Construction
Durable and lightweight “cap” skis are built by a sophisticated molding process that envelopes the core and internal materials with the top layer of the ski. Used throughout our ski line, cap constructions can be assembled with a variety of different cores. These variations, such as glass and/or metal materials, are the determining factors of the skis’ performance.

Powder Tip

Powder Tip
Designed to be more predictable in soft snow conditions, these tips are designed to strike the perfect balance of maximizing float while reducing tip deflection. These tips are designed with a gentle arc and transition into the sidecut of the ski.

Progressive Sidecut

Progressive Sidecut
Progressive sidecut is a combination of two different radii, or sidecuts, that enhance the versatility of wider-waist skis. Standard sidecut theory is based on using a single radius. This works well on narrower skis, but becomes overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions. The use of progressive sidecut on wider-waist skis guarantees improved turn initiation and hard-snow performance.

SnoPhobic Topsheet

SnoPhobic Topsheet
Since snow collecting on the ski can add pounds to a climb, our SnoPhobic tops keep you light with a new snow-repellent topsheet. The running surface along the bottom of a ski is hydrophobic by design, so we’ve developed a thinner version of the same material to use on the BackSide model-specific topsheets.

Carbon Web

Carbon Web
Enveloping the Mod structure with a carbon weave where the strands of carbon are laid at precise angles for an additional level of torsional rigidity on the secondary core. This keeps the ski light but gives you the additional torsional strength where you need it most.

Skin Grommets

Skin Grommets
The new freeride tip and tail grommets are a clean, simple design that no longer requires a plug. The durable rubber coating disguises a slit designed to accommodate both the Z clip for our skin attachments, and the components to build a rescue sled.

Torsion Box

Torsion Box
Torsion Box construction is the foundation for the widest range of skis designed by K2. Depending on the dimensions of a ski, and the amount of flex and torsion designed into it, one model of a Torsion Box ski can differ greatly from another. The versatility in the construction enables us to build everything from entry-level through expert skis. While there will be significant differences between skis, they do share the common traits of ease, forgiveness, responsiveness, and energy that can be found in all Torsion Box skis.

      Comments about K2 Skis Wayback:

Partnered with Diamir Eagle bindings I bought these for Touring in Andermatt. I've also used them for 3 weeks this winter on & off piste in France.

I now use them in preference to my Alpine skis due to their light weight. On very icy pistes they took a while to get used to - however getting your weight well forward sorts that - these are a great ski!

            Comments about K2 Skis Wayback:

In backcountry skiing, you never know what you'll find so you need a tool for all terrain. Powder is the prime target so you want something that covers that, but what about corn, zipper crust and bottomless mank? For that, you need a ski that will make you come back for seconds, which is where the WayBack comes in. It does it all, with style.
