Technology

All-terrain-rocker
ROCKER: Easy initiation, versatility, agility
CAMBER: Control, edge hold, rebound

All-Terrain Rocker features an elevated tip for variable and soft snow performance, as well as camber underfoot for power, energy, and edge-hold in firmer conditions.

Simply put, All-Terrain Rocker offers versatility and ease in all snow conditions.
All-Terrain Profile
Triaxial-braid
The patented Triaxial Braiding machine interlocks strands of fiberglass around a milled core, resulting in great torsional strength while retaining the lively flex patterns inherent in a wood core ski.
Cap-construction
Durable and lightweight “cap” skis are built by a sophisticated molding process that envelopes the core and internal materials with the top layer of the ski. Used throughout our ski line, cap constructions can be assembled with a variety of different cores. These variations, such as glass and/or metal materials, are the determining factors of the skis’ performance.
Bioflex-cores
All of K2’s women’s skis use cores that feature a combination of Aspen, Paulownia, and Bamboo. BioFlex cores are comprised of strong Aspen wood underfoot, which is fused with lightweight Paulownia in the tip and tail using a specific interlocking pattern that reduces swing-weight and provides a smooth-flexing ski. For 2013/14, K2 continues to apply this technology through one of the following three variations of BioFlex, each specifically tuned to target different performance goals: Bioflex 3 – 80% Aspen/20% Paulownia – Increased performance, strength, and durability Bioflex 2 – 70% Aspen/30% Paulownia – reduced swing-weight with added performance Bioflex 1 – 60% Aspen/40% Paulownia – Added forgiveness with the lightest swing-weight
Progressive-sidecut
Progressive sidecut is a combination of two different radii, or sidecuts, that enhance the versatility of wider-waist skis. Standard sidecut theory is based on using a single radius. This works well on narrower skis, but becomes overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions. The use of progressive sidecut on wider-waist skis guarantees improved turn initiation and hard-snow performance.
Carbon-web
Enveloping the Mod structure with a carbon weave where the strands of carbon are laid at precise angles for an additional level of torsional rigidity on the secondary core. This keeps the ski light but gives you the additional torsional strength where you need it most.
Snophobic-topsheet
Since snow collecting on the ski can add pounds to a climb, our SnoPhobic tops keep you light with a new snow-repellent topsheet. The running surface along the bottom of a ski is hydrophobic by design, so we’ve developed a thinner version of the same material to use on the BackSide model-specific topsheets.
Skin-grommets
The new freeride tip and tail grommets are a clean, simple design that no longer requires a plug. The durable rubber coating disguises a slit designed to accommodate both the Z clip for our skin attachments, and the components to build a rescue sled.

Comments about K2 Skis SuperBright 102:

I have skied the SuperBright 102's in every condition. From high speed groomers, to chopped up crud, to Utah powder days... this ski performs in all conditions. 102mm under foot is the ideal width for a ski that you can take anywhere. The all terrain rocker helps give the ski its float. The sidecut allows you to lay the ski over on hard-pack and easily transition from edge to edge.

Comments about K2 Skis SuperBright 102:

Perfect touring ski . . . I've mounted mine with Dynafit bindings, making for a very light setup. They still have my ideal width underfoot, however, at 102. Good balance between camber and rocker really makes this the best ski for me for hiking. I am stoked!

Comments about K2 Skis SuperBright 102:

This is a great ski in all conditions!!!! Most people think that a ski 102 under the foot would be considered a "fat ski" (not anymore)....although it is wide, I think it performs remarkably on groomed terrain as well. The all terrain rocker in the front makes the turn initiation really easy and will provide additional float in fresh and tracked up snow. because it has camber under the foot you can lay it down on groomers and you don't notice the width under the foot. As far as the sizing goes I would recomend going a bit longer that you normally go because of the all terrain rocker in the front, it changes the effective edge contact on the snow. I would highly recommend this for anyone that is looking for an all around charging ski in all conditions.

Got these skis for out west and for powder days here. What fun! Have been on them several times and love the floatation and responsiveness. Nimble enough to make medium radius turns on groomed hardpack but really excel in powder and off piste.
