Wood Core

Wood Core
K2 uses a variety of wood cores for energy, rebound, and a liveliness only found in wood core skis. Our wood cores consist of a blend of different species of wood based on the desired flex and target performance of the ski.

Metal Laminate

Metal Laminate
Built from the base up, a metal laminate construction consists of alternating layers of fiberglass and titanal above and below the core. Metal Laminates provide damp, accurate, unshakable performance, ideal for expert and advanced level skiers.

K2/Marker MXC System

K2/Marker MXC System
The all-new K2/Marker MXC binding system is our widest ski binding system, with a 54% wider attachment than our previous MX system. The system incorporates zinc feet that extend toward the ski edge for the most accurate power transfer, resulting in improved edge hold and control on wider-waisted skis. The binding stand height has also been reduced by 12%, resulting in a 10% weight savings.

Core: Strength and Structure
A K2 ski is designed with a primary core and structural layers that determine the flex along the entire length of the ski.

MOD: Suspension
Added on top of the ski’s primary core is a secondary core called the MOD structure, which essentially acts independently as a suspension system, quieting the ride of the ski. The key is that the MOD structure does not change the overall flex of the ski.

Carbon Web: Increased Edge Hold
A raised X-shaped pattern has been added to specific regions of the MOD structure to support a Carbon Web. This X-shaped carbon support is furthest from the core to increase torsional rigidity, for greater edge-hold and grip. It works independently of the primary core so the overall longitudinal flex is unchanged.

The addition of Speed Rocker or All-Terrain Rocker makes turns effortless with greater accuracy and edge hold.

Hybritech Sidewall

Hybritech Sidewall
Hybritech is a unique blend of sidewall and cap constructions. The construction combines the accuracy, power, and performance of sidewall underfoot with the lightweight characteristics and smooth turn initiation of cap construction.

Carbon Web

Carbon Web
Enveloping the Mod structure with a carbon weave where the strands of carbon are laid at precise angles for an additional level of torsional rigidity on the secondary core. This keeps the ski light but gives you the additional torsional strength where you need it most.

Mod Technology

Mod Technology
High-Performance Suspension System Mod functions by absorbing vibrations and impact loads along the entire ski, providing stronger edge-hold and a higher degree of power and control. Mod is a secondary core that flexes and moves on top of the primary core, allowing the overall ski flex to be unaffected.

Progressive Sidecut

Progressive Sidecut
Progressive sidecut is a combination of two different radii, or sidecuts, that enhance the versatility of wider-waist skis. Standard sidecut theory is based on using a single radius. This works well on narrower skis, but becomes overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions. The use of progressive sidecut on wider-waist skis guarantees improved turn initiation and hard-snow performance.
