16. How far forward should I mount my skis?
With today's twin tip all mountain, and park and pipe specific skis, riders are commonly mounting their skis forward from a traditional mid sole mounting point. The main benefits are increased control when riding or landing switch, and a more neutral balance in the air or on rails. For this season, all Factory Team skis have a mounting scale on the sidewall running from traditional mid sole mark, to a 7.5 cm forward marking. Following is a general guideline for where to mount these skis. If you are uncertain, the best bet is to go conservative at first and stick to a traditional mount. 0 to 2cm forward: All Mountain Riding - If you plan on skiing mostly outside the park, and want the ski to behave like a traditional ski, you should stay on the conservative side and mount closer to the traditional mid sole mark. 3 to 5 cm forward: 50% All Mountain, 50% Terrain Park - When mounting beyond 3 cm, you will lose a little of the traditional feel of length in front of the binding, but with more tail, you gain the control in the air and riding switch. Seth Morrison mounts his skis at 5 cm forward. 6 cm to 7.5 cm forward: Terrain Park or Switch Riding - If you bought the skis primarily for the terrain park, or are focused on riding switch in the backcountry, you may consider mounting your skis this far forward. While you may sacrifice forward directional float and stability, it's made up for in switch riding and landing balance and performance. From 6 cm to 7.5 cm forward is where Pep, and Andy typically mount their skis.
17. How do I get sponsored?
So you think you are ready to be sponsored by K2. Take a look at the question below and see what scenario fits the type of sponsorship you are looking for.
1) Should I be sponsored? I've got more than the basics down and I'm tearing up the local hill! My buddies say I rip and have good style and I am looking for a free pair of skis and don't have the cash to buy them. Answer: Every sponsored athletes needs to start somewhere. You are on the right path but now you need to show us your dedication to the sport as an athlete and hopefully K2. Get in touch with your local k2 rep and see if you can get involved with the rep at local events and enter some contests. A regional sponsorship probably fits you best but I would start working on a sponsorship video that showcases all of your talents.
2) I should be sponsored? I've got video, photos and a resume I have been working on for the past year and feel like my accomplishments are worthy of a spot on the B Team. I've been in contact with the local K2 rep helping push the brand and am sure they have talked with you about me. Answer: Chances are if you are in contact with our local reps, we have heard about you. Now it is time to send us your video and resume, but there has to be a spot available for you as well. Send in your footage to: K2 Skis, Attn: Team Manager 4201 6th Ave S. Seattle, WA 98108. Personality and a unique personal style are an important part to getting sponsored. You might have the biggest bag of trips or be the sickest big mountain skier but I want to see a creative approach to skiing and a personality to match.
3) I am already sponsored! I am currently sponsored by brand X and looking to be a part of the K2 team. Answer: Send us your resume and explain why you are interested in K2. The K2 team is a family of athletes and we prefer them to grow up through the ranks but we do make exceptions for athletes that fit our image and brand. Send Sponsorship Videos and Resumes to: K2 Skis, Attn Team Manager, 4201 6th Ave S. Seattle, WA 98108."

19. Should I be in the fore or aft insert set?
The aft insert position is set up for all-mountain performance and offers the skier a neutral, balanced position over the ski, with plenty of tip float for soft snow. The forward insert postion weights the tip; great for quicker turn initiation on steep fall line and bump runs and hard-packed conditions.
20. What bindings are compatible with your previous Tele Inserts?
Nearly all major binding manufacturers offer a compatible binding or conversion plate to facilitate use of our four screw insert pattern. Many K2 Telemark dealers also offer a three hole conversion plate for older three hole pattern telemark bindings. We would recommend you speak with aK2 Telemark dealer regarding specific binding compatibility questions, and have them assist you with which binding would best work for you.
21. Can I set up an older K2 Tele Ski with Alpine or AT bindings?
Yes; all K2 Tele Skis utilized an internal fiberglass mount screw retention matt. It is imperative that all drilled holes must be at minimum of 1cm from the inserts, center to center.
22. The insert screws for my K2 Tele skis are too short form my bindings. Can I get a longer set?
The factory insert screws included with your K2 Telemark skis are compatible to G3 Targa series and Black Diamond 02-03 bindings. Practically every binding manufacturer is currently supplying correct sized machine screws for K2 inserts. However, if you still need a longer set, please speak with your local binding dealer to help you get the correct set of screws from the binding manufacturer.
23. Do I have to plug the inserts that I don't use?
No, they are fully sealed in the manufacturing process.
